On 11-19-10 at approximately 9:45 PM officers from the Redding Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision on Railroad Avenue near Grandview Avenue.
Investigation of the collision revealed that an unidentified white male believed to be 18 of Anderson, was walking eastbound across Railroad Avenue mid-block. Kathy Vehling, 58 or Redding was driving a 2004 Pontiac sedan north on Railroad Avenue approaching Grandview Avenue. Vehling’s vehicle collided with the pedestrian.
The unidentified pedestrian sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Mercy Medical Center. Vehling was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Shasta County Jail. The pedestrian identity has not yet been confirmed.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
