What: Cypress School students Celebrate National Walk to School Day
When: 8 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 6)
Where: City Hall
Sponsored by Safe Routes to School to promote walking to school and healthy lifestyles — many local schools are celebrating. Cypress School students will be dropped off between 8 and 8:15 a.m. at City Hall and greeted by Mayor Jones, Principal Bishop, RPD, CHP. A “Walking School Bus” (a supervised group of walkers led by Jones) will leave at 8:15, travel through Sculpture Park, cross Cypress with the help of the Redding Police Department, go west on Cypress to Grape, up Locust and back to the school.
KSHA 104.3 FM (K-Shasta) will be broadcasting live from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Cypress School. The students will all have a healthy breakfast on the lawn in front of the school, sponsored by Healthy Student Initiative (parents and chaperones can have breakfast for free, too). Members of the Garden Tract Society have volunteered to chaperone as well.
