Audience Gives Gardner’s Tree ‘Best of Show’

Attendees of the artists reception for Siskiyou Arts Council’s TREES show voted Jill Gardner’s mixed media sculpture with silk and sparkle, Transanimation II, pictured above, the “Best of Show” award.

Jill says of her work, “I had so much fun making this tree! I was swept up into a magical spell by all the sparkly and textural elements as I was working. Each little bead, each feather and piece of silk just jumped into my hands saying ‘choose me, choose me.’ Trees are such patient treasures, beautiful and shining neighors and friends, and that is what I tried to convey in this piece.”

View Jill’s piece and the other entries in the TREES show at the Siskiyou Arts Council Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd. Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm and Saturday, 11am to 5pm.

TREES ends October 2, 2010.
