The University Preparatory School Foundation is offering the opportunity to take a trip to Vegas without ever leaving Shasta County at the school’s 2nd annual Auction and Dinner, featuring a Vegas themed casino night. The event takes place on Saturday, March 20, 2010 beginning at 5pm at the Gaia Hotel in Anderson, California.

The evening begins with Vegas style gaming and a silent auction. Gaming tables will include Blackjack, Roulette and Craps, and a number of local celebrity dealers (including anewsacafe.com’s own Doni Greenberg) will be on hand to help entertain players. Each player will receive $100 worth of gaming chips which can later be used to enter to win raffle prizes.

Dinner in the Gaia Banquet Hall will follow at 7 p.m., featuring surf & turf and a live stage show of Rat Pack favorites from Southern California-based Pulcini Entertainment. Following dinner, professional auctioneer Mark Lascelles will step up to the podium to host the live auction segment of the evening. Some of the spotlighted items include tickets to a Kings game, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Disneyland, Great America, a weekend getaway to the Mt Shasta Ski Resort, and much more.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the University Preparatory School’s Education Foundation and various art and sports programs at the Redding charter school, which recently ranked silver in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools 2010. Last year’s auction netted more than $22,000 for the school.

Tickets for the event are $45 or $450 for an 8-person table. Advance reservations are required and seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased online at www.uprepauction.com or by phone at (530) 242-0424. Gaia Hotel will be offering a special reduced rate for Viva Las Vegas attendees who wish to stay overnight.
