Bright Smiles for Children

Kids in Shasta County can get FREE dental care next Friday as Shasta College dental hygiene students, local dentists and other volunteers participate in national “Give Kids a Smile Day.”

From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., kids 18 and under who have no dental insurance can get free exams, fillings, sealants, cleanings and more. The children will also be instructed in proper dental care. Shasta County social agencies will provide information to parents.

The first-come, first-served clinics will be at 1400 Market Street in Redding, 2801 Silver Street in Anderson and 4215 Front Street in Shasta Lake City.

  • Phone Manners: Our two neo-hippie musician sons may be mellow, but they probably won’t like it when they learn I’m answering our home phone: “Brewers’ Hair Farm.”
  • I didn’t see Redding’s own Sundial Bridge in the mix, but Fast Company magazine has a nice slide show of other works by famed architect Santiago Calatrava. Click here.
  • Rules for Successful Living #29: If you simply must play while in the shower, go with the acoustic guitar, not the electric.
