What: Soroptimist International of Redding Mardi Gras Fundraiser
When: Jan. 30, 7 p.m. to midnight

Our 2010 Mardi Gras marks the clubs 38th year in holding this fundraiser in our community. All funds from this event go toward local community projects and programs supported by Soroptimist International of Redding. Such projects that our club has supported in the past include: the construction of the Senior Citizen’s Building; the establishment of the Secret Witness Program of Shasta County; scholarships for youth and women; the Breast Cancer Detection Fund; New Library Now; the Mayor’s Memorial Garden at City Hall; Cascade Theatre; Riverfront Playhouse; Make-a-Wish; and much more.
This year’s Mardi Gras will also feature the crowning of our first ever King & Queen. Based on votes from the community, one King and one Queen will be recognized for their work in making a difference in the lives of women and/or children in Shasta County. After a month of taking nominations from the community, three men have been selected as our King nominees and three women have been selected for our Queen nominees.

2. Don Burton with Redding Radio.
3. Brian Apodaca of Anderson
Queen Nominees
