Cure Your Inner Grinch

Need an injection of Christmas spirit? Nothing works better than holiday music, and you can get a big dose for FREE on Tuesday when an octet called Wednesday Nights @ Our House sings carols at the Redding Library.

The a capella group will perform at 6 p.m. in the library’s community room for the monthly “Musical Tuesdays at the Library.”

A special “Musical Tuesdays” is planned for 6 p.m. Dec. 15, when The Women’s A Capella Choir from Anderson Union High School will perform holiday music.

  • We attended opening night of “A Cascade Christmas” by James Santos’ Dance Project, and were completely blown away. What a show! Two hours of spirited dancing and singing, beautiful costumes and cute kids, and our own Troy Hawkins as Santa. The show runs through next weekend at the Cascade Theatre.
  • The Friends of the Library’s monthly book sale is next Saturday (Dec. 5) at the community room. The sale is the best deal in town — 50 cents for hardcovers, 25 cents for paperbacks. It runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • Finally, here’s a little lesson for muggers: If you’re going to snatch a lady’s purse, you shouldn’t pick on a writer who’s spent years training with boxers. Portland author Katherine Dunn, best-known for “Geek Love,” unleashed a flurry of punches, and her assailant was arrested. Full story here.
