I’m heading to the Britt Festival (in Jacksonville, Ore.) , where I have tickets to see Son Volt and the Cowboy Junkies on Saturday.
However, if I were staying, I’d get up the hill to Oak Run where it’s cooler to see Keith Greeniger, Dayan Kai and City Folk. (Gates open at 5 p.m., dinner starts at 6 with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. For more information, click here.)
I base this pick on what I heard from people following Greeninger and Kai’s last show in Redding (Old City Hall). There’s a certain type of enthusiasm I can detect from music fans when they’re spreading the gospel about something that’s genuinely fantastic. That’s how they were reacting to Greeniger and Kai.
Son Volt.
So, I’m torn, but I’ve had these Son Volt tickets for a while and I’ve been listening to Jay Farrar pretty consistantly for a couple of years now. Also, I missed the Cowboy Junkies when they played at the Cascade.
