Win a $25,000 Landscaping Makeover

KIXE’s “Water Wise” Landscape Makeover Sweepstakes is drawing to a close, which means there are only three weeks left to buy a chance at a backyard restoration valued at $25,000.

Raffle tickets, priced at $5 each or six for $25, will be sold through March 31. The north state public TV station will televise the drawing that night. Only 5,000 tickets will be sold.

Kitty Conners, KIXE’s special events coordinator, said the station is aware that many north state families are facing extra challenges in today’s tumultuous economy “and we wanted to find something that a family could really benefit from.”

Instead of a new car, boat, motor home or a vacation trip, KIXE, with help from Shasta College, Members 1st Credit Union, and eight other generous businesses, has come up with a grand prize that will benefit a lucky family for years to come.

The grand prize includes a consultation with a Shasta College horticulturist to envision a water-wise landscape design that will be developed into a plan by the school’s horticulture students. WLMS Landscaping will oversee the project and provide a crew to do the work.

Materials will be provided by Lassen Landscape Materials; Amigo Supply will provide the irrigation system; Creative Works will perform the concrete work; Shasta Growers L.L.C. will furnish the plants; and Zamora Sod Farm will bring in the sod.

Second prize is a high-end barbecue from Home Depot and third prize is $500 worth of plants from Shasta College.

Tickets can be purchased at the KIXE offices, 603 N. Market St. in Redding, by calling 243-5493, or by visiting Lassen Landscape Materials, Shasta Growers or Palo Cedro Printing.

Proceeds from the Landscape Makeover Sweepstakes support programming on KIXE, including its new digital channel CREATE (9.3), which is filled with how-to programs for families and homeowners.

My husband and i recently moved into our new retirement home here in beautiful Campbell River B.C. Vancouver Island Unfortunatley he suffered a heart attack and stroke 1 month before moving in. After quadruple by-pass surgery he is unable to get to his much needed landscaping and fencing project.. We have a lovely level lot to work with, and it would be my dream come true if I could have underground sprinkling system as I have always been the one dragging the hoses around our previous yards ha! ha!ha !!! Hope you will join us here on the lovely island here in British Columbia

My boyfriend and I just recently bought a little house on a hill. Our yard needs so much help. We have an above ground pool that needs help. The yard is on an incline everywhere and I would love a veggie garden but don't know where to put it. I want flowers everywhere, I am at a loss for words on how bad my yard needs it. There is potential, but I need help. We have put everything we have into getting this house that we love so much. Now I just need help with the yard. There is a water run off from the upper hill that makes a mud spot right next to the pool. We had out leach field re done and the man that did it was horrible and not worthy of his work. Left huge rocks in the yard and dumped hay everywhere with no reason or stucture. I just know you can help me. Please? Central NY has amazing soil. anything is possible. Please consider me! Thanks…

Hi, My name is Jordan Garcia. I am currently 14 years of age. My family and I recently moved into a house, and the our backyard is one-fourths of an acre. Therefore, it is BIG! We have 3 labrador retrievers, so picking up the backyard is a daily thing. The only problem is that since we just bought a new house, and the economy right now is not so great, we don't have money to fix up our backyard.

We live in Phoenix, Arizona. So it gets pretty hot over here. Having an extended patio with shade would be perfect for our backyard! And adding beautiful arrangements of plants would make it most delightful. My mom and dad really want to get the backyard done before my quiceneara.

In conclusion, my parents really need your help to fix up our backyard. Thankyou!
