Friday Overload

Cultural Cruise at 10 locations, Leo Kottke at the Cascade, Chuck Brodsky at Bernie’s Guitar, Northstate Songwriters Association performers at City Hall, and 25-year-old songwriter Jakob Martin from San Diego at the Vintage Wine Bar. Think that’s enough options? There are more.

Jakob Martin

But first, a bit on Martin. The young artist has written a bundle of songs (more than 100) and is getting a lot of travel in (more than 500 shows across the country). To hear his stuff, click here. He certainly brings a poet’s sensibility to his songs. Excellent voice, too.

• Also Friday (but also Saturday night as well), Slam Buckra and the Groove Palookas with Thom Berry on harmonica are playing at Pio Loco restaurant (1135 Pine St. in Redding). Haven’t seen Slam with his main band in a while, so expect some groovy, boogie, danceable, blues rockin’. To check out all things Buckra, visit his site. He would certainly like to, in his words, “seize yuzz thar!”
