Corner Booth: Weather Report

Yes, we desperately need some rain, but a day like today is a good reminder why we live in Northern California: Sunny, breezy and 74 degrees. In January. Dang.

Doni’s article ArtHop Believer nicely sums up the way many of us feel about this monthly event. We’re so glad it’s a success. Her story about the downpour at the November ArtHop reminded me of this:

Kelly and I were running late (as usual) as we arrived for ArtHop that night. I whipped our Ford Lemonstar minivan into a space in the downtown parking garage, and we climbed out just as the clouds opened. We were safe and dry in the parking garage, and in a goofy mood.

I sang out, loudly, in a really horrible Neil Young warble, “It’s rainin’ in my heart.” Kelly joined me in crooning the second line: “Since we’ve been apa-a-art.”

That’s when we noticed the lady standing nearby, staring at us. Not somebody we’d ever met. Oops.

She said, “Oh, you’re the Brewers.”

Always nice to be recognized, especially when you’re acting a fool.
