Redding area residents will get a chance to experience a piece of aviation history
when a World War II era four engine B-17 bomber comes to Redding for a three day
tour stop from Friday through Sunday, April 21st through 23rd. The airplane, owned by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be available for local flights from 10 AM to 1 PM for $449 in advance. $475 after it’s arrival. Book early at
In addition, anyone who’d like to examine the plane and walk through it can do so
between 2 to 5 PM. You’ll get a feel for what it was like for our young men battling
the enemy more than 70 years ago. Ground tours are $10 per person, $20 for a family, children under 8 free with paid adult admission. Veterans and active duty military are especially encouraged to come for free ground tours!
Although more than 12,000 B-17’s were produced, Aluminum Overcast, is one of only about 15 that are in flying condition. The aircraft will be based on the ramp in front of Redding Jet Center, 3775 Flight Avenue at Redding Municipal Airport. The visit is sponsored by Redding EAA Chapter 157.
