September is National Preparedness Month and Shasta County Public Health urges residents to make plans and prepare emergency supply kits so we’re “ready for anything.”
Public Health says the back-to-school season is a good time to review family emergency plans and check on what schools do in case of emergency.
Residents are encouraged to have a kit of supplies and a “to-go” kit in case of evacuation. Supplies should include such essentials as flashlight, battery-powered radio, extra batteries, non-perishable food and at least a three-day supply of water for each individual and pet. Also consider: medications, pet vaccination records and paperwork such as property insurance documents and personal ID.
The “Ready Shasta” campaign has lots of worksheets and information for emergency planning. Click here.
