The California Department of Transportation, Caltrans District 2, is preparing to close several of its Safety Roadside Rest Areas for the season.
The Hillcrest SRRAs, located 3.9 miles east of Montgomery Creek on State Route 299, and the Lake Almanor SRRAs, located 4.3 miles east of Chester on State Route 36, will close for the season on October 31, 2015. They are expected to reopen May 1, 2016.
The Shingletown SRRAs on State Route 44, the Massack SRRAs, 6.5 miles east of Quincy on SR 70, and the L.T. Davis SRRAs, three miles east of Portola on SR 70, will close November 1, 2015 and reopen on April 1, 2016. These rest areas are closed annually during the winter for cost saving measures.
The Lt John C. Helmick SRRAs, 1.3 miles north of Corning Road on Interstate 5, are closed for construction until 2017. For a list of all SRRA’s in California and their status, please visit http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/maint/ra/Statewide.htm
