A youth ensemble, Kitsune Taiko, will be featured at this year’s ShastaYama Festival 2015 for the first time. The guiding force of this youth ensemble, Taiko Project, is this year’s headliner bringing an American style of taiko combined with traditional forms and their own fresh, innovative aesthetic approach to taiko. Unit Souzou with Michelle Fujii & Toru Watanabe will also add their rich and creative dance artistry and theater to this year’s festival. Tadaimi, will feature ShastaYama’s hosts Russel Baba on winds and Jeanne Mercer along with Gary Fitzgerald on bass. Shasta Taiko, Mt. Shasta’s local troupe are also performing this year’s festival. The ShastaYama Festival 2015 is on Saturday, August 1, 6 pm at Mount Shasta’s Shastice Park – 800 Rockfellow Drive.
