Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, in partnership with Forever Resorts, offers free patio boat tours of Whiskeytown Lake as part of the national Free Fee Weekend set for July 18-19, 2009. The tours will be offered throughout the day during this free weekend. “We want to reinforce that national parks are places for everyone to have fun, reconnect with nature and history, and build a sense of ownership and stewardship toward parks and environment,” Milestone says. Reservations will be taken starting Saturday, July 4.
This is the second in a series of three summer weekends that the National Park Service will waive entrance fees and offer free patio boat tours. The third and last free weekend is August 15-16, 2009. Patio Boat reservations for the August 15-16 weekend will not be taken until Saturday, Aug. 1.
