Rolling Hills Casino Closes Kitchen for Renovations

The busiest kitchen in Tehama County is about to undergo a complete renovation at Rolling Hills Casino from April 27 to May 14. During the renovations, the Casino plans to serve meals chuck-wagon style in their gigantic event tent.

“It’s been almost 13 years since we served our first meals in the Rolling Hills Buffet and Timbers Steakhouse,” said Food and Beverage Manager, James Rosenbalm. “It’s time to put in some fancy new tile flooring, and upgrade and modernize our kitchen with some labor saving equipment so food is cooked more efficiently.”

According to Rosenbalm, Rolling Hills served almost 2 million meals in the Buffet since it opened in July 2002. “We served over 143,000 buffet meals in 2014 alone,” said Rosenbalm. That figure does not include the thousands of meals served in Timbers Restaurant, the Lounge, and Carlino’s Event Center.

“With our business growing rapidly every year, we couldn’t put off the renovations any longer,” added Rosenbalm.

The kitchen upgrade project meant the temporary closure of the popular Rolling Hills Buffet and Timbers Steakhouse. Unwilling to disrupt food service to guests or lay off the170 member food and beverage staff, Casino management got creative.

“Our event tent gave us the opportunity to offer a fun dining experience in a festival atmosphere,” said Rosenbalm.

The Rolling Hills Chuck-Wagon Buffet will feature a carving station for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a daily menu change. The prices for a meal are Breakfast — $6.95, Lunch — $8.95, Dinner — $11.95. The Casino will continue to offer 50% Senior discounts on Tuesdays and Thursdays for guests over 50.
