Three Local Companies Volunteer to Help RPD
In conjunction with recent public safety town hall events, the Redding Police Department is increasing its effort to connect with Redding citizens by launching a new website and implementing a new digital media strategic plan. Three local marketing companies, Optimize Worldwide, Sugar Pine Media, and NorthState Studios have come together to help the Department put its best foot forward.
The new police website, located at reddingpolice.org streamlines the process by which volunteers can sign up to help the Police Department. The new website places Redding’s Most Wanted criminals front and center, highlights RPD’s volunteer of the month, and spreads awareness of missing persons in the Redding area.
In addition to the website, both companies helped the Police Department craft a new outreach strategy for the website to seamlessly integrate with social media networks. The strategy, modeled in part after similar plans implemented in Boston, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee includes a calendar of future postings that will share mugshots, lost and found items, police outreach efforts, and press releases with the Redding Police Department’s Facebook audience.
Matt Morgan, owner of local online marketing company Optimize Worldwide said, “We have seen our community come together to help solve crime this year. Our company has been deeply involved in helping the Business Merchants Crime Watch movement and this effort is an extension of our commitment to make our community stronger.”
The idea for the new website and social media plan arose when Matt Morgan and Rocky Slaughter, CEO of Sugar Pine Media, were sitting together during Chief Paoletti’s presentation at a recent Redding City Council meeting.
“We simply cannot rely on the police alone to solve our increasing crime problem. When the 78,000 citizens in our area who are currently signed up for Facebook start seeing suspects, stolen items, safety tips, and other emergency messages in their News Feeds, the community will feel more in touch with our law enforcement,” said Rocky Slaughter, CEO of Sugar Pine Media.
Nigel Skeet, a celebrity and rock band photographer from Los Angeles and a 5-year Redding resident, also volunteered to help the police by taking new, edgier photos for the new website and social media portals. “I wanted to take photos that show off our Police Department. They have it tough these days. The least we can do is support them however we can,” Skeet said.
Redding Police Chief Rob Paoletti lauded the new volunteer marketing group saying, “We are proud to have the help of volunteers. This is a significant upgrade from our current website and digital media presence. The new program organizes information in a way that is very accessible for our citizens, reducing staff time required to answer questions, freeing our officers to focus more on reducing crime.”

Matt, Rocky, and Chief Paoletti will be available for interviews today, October 8th, between 1-2 p.m. at the Redding Police Department.
