What’s the Point of So Many Final Projects?

I’m beginning to wonder whether it’s legal for a class to give this many final projects.

For my American Studies class (I believe I’ve mentioned that AS is English and History combined into one class), we have a final, a senior speech, a poetry slam, and a final essay. It’s ridiculous! Four projects for one class! And the final is worth 1,700 points! Our usual projects are about 500. This is more than three of those projects combined.

The senior speech is required; I can’t graduate without it. The poetry slam is a poetry competition that our English teacher has made into a class project for the end of the year, and it’s worth a few hundred points. I haven’t even begun to worry about the essay.

And then there are my other classes to worry about. Thank goodness there is no final for Art III or Imaging II. I love art and photography! We just have a final art piece and preparation for the Shasta District Fair. I have five photos going in, and a few art pieces. Trig/PreCal is simple: if you have an A, you don’t have to take the final. Guess what grade I have. Hooray!

Yes, I’ll admit it: I’m still stressed as always. I should have known things wouldn’t go back to normal after the play and speech contest. But that’s the way things are at New Tech. Stress for the entire school year, bask in the worry-free summer. It’s a never-ending cycle.
