Proof once again that a 19-year-old male will eat almost anything: Our son reports that he scrounged a meal from a friend’s nearly empty larder by inventing a stew of sorts. The recipe involved Cup O’ Noodles, “lots and lots” of hot sauce (which he puts on everything), and a can of tuna.
You read that correctly. Tuna Stew. Stewna. He swears it was tasty. I’ll take his word for it.
This reminds me of the time, when I wasn’t much older than him, when I accidentally made a tuna cake. To read about that fiasco, click here.
- Thought during a sneezing fit: What if I’m allergic to Kleenex?
- Oddball news of the day: A photographer in a boat on Monterey Bay took a picture of an otter that appeared to be taking a picture of the boat. The otter was holding a video camera that was covered in mud and seaweed. You can see the photo and read the full story here.
- Shasta College’s governing board has named Duane K. Miller as a new member representing a district that includes parts of Cottonwood and Anderson. Miller earned an associate of arts degree from Yuba College and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Chico State.
- What I’m Reading: “Beat the Reaper” by Josh Bazell. It’s a crime story about a former hitman in the federal witness protection program who’s become a doctor. Unfortunately, he’s recognized by a patient who’s still in the mob. This is a debut novel, but it reads like it was written by a veteran. What a great voice. I can’t put it down.
