Boy, my name’s been all over Food for Thought: A News Cafe, huh? They like to make a splash when a new guy shows up.
- Awfully nice of the local paper to give publicity to our own lovely and talented Doni Greenberg and her onstage cooking demonstrations that begin Wednesday in conjunction with “food movies” at the lovely and talented Cascade Theatre in Redding. Bet some people at the newspaper were grinding their orca-like teeth when they saw A News Cafe mentioned on Tuesday’s section front. I’m looking especially forward to “Babette’s Feast” and chocolate truffles. Click here for details.
- Speaking of the Record-Skinflint, did you see the downpage headline: “100-year-old Redding woman lives one day at a time” So that’s how you do it!
- They Fired All the Copy Editors, Part III: In a magazine ad for California Pizza Kitchen pizzas, we find reference to “Wine Parings.” What are “wine parings?” Are we supposed to be peeling something? Is that what the little knife on the corkscrew is for?
- Seen on DVD: “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” starring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck. Beautifully filmed and well-acted, if a little long. Also, the title kinda gives the whole story away.
- I don’t care which key you hit or how hard you hit it, that won’t get a speck of dust off your computer screen.
