
Robert Parker Milton
This afternoon, a Shasta County jury reached a verdict in the sanity portion of the Robert Parker Milton murder trial. The jury determined that Milton was sane at the time he committed the crimes. Milton is scheduled to return to court on June 22, 2026, at 11:00 am in Department 44 for the receipt of the presentence investigation report and setting of a Judgment & Sentencing date.
The sanity verdict comes just two weeks after the same jury found Milton guilty of First-Degree Murder, three counts of Resisting an Executive Officer, and one misdemeanor count of Destroying or Concealing Evidence in connection with the murder of 71-year-old William Dressler on August 29, 2024. All of the associated enhancements to the charges were also found to be true including that the crime involved great violence and a high degree of cruelty viciousness or callousness, that Milton engaged in violent conduct that indicates a serious danger to society, and that Milton personally and intentionally discharged of a firearm causing great bodily injury or death.
Milton’s maximum possible sentence is 50 years-to-life, plus an additional 4 years and 4 months in prison.
