Redding Electric Utility (REU) will host the 2020 Far Nor Cal Regional Science Bowl Saturday, February 29th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Simpson University. This event will feature 46 teams from a record 29 different schools from eight Northern California counties.
The Far Nor Cal Regional Science Bowl is a fiercely competitive question-and-answer contest between some of the brightest high school and middle school minds from schools throughout Northern California. The winner from the middle school division and the high school division will each win an all-expense paid trip to the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., April 30-May 4, 2020, to compete with teams from across the nation. Events like the Science Bowl encourage our youth to explore the many benefits of a science and math based education and potential career opportunities.
The event is free of charge and open to the public, who are encouraged to attend finals at 2:30 p.m. in the Simpson University gymnasium. This community wide event is made possible through numerous volunteers from agencies including; Simpson University, Shasta Family YMCA, Leadership Redding, Redding Police Department Explorers, Shasta County Sheriffs’ Explorers, Active 20-30 Club of Redding and Redding Electric Utility.
