Redding City Council Candidates Forum on Environmental Issues

Shasta Environmental Alliance will be holding a Redding City Council Candidates Forum with a focus on the City of Redding’s Open Space, Parks, hiking and biking trails, climate change, protection of riparian stream areas, the Sacramento River and preventing more urban sprawl.

First United Methodist Church, 1825 East St., Redding, on Monday, October 1 at 6 pm. Enter on the first floor, South St. Entrance.

Cosponsors include:, KFOI Radio, KKRN Radio, Wintu Audubon, North State Climate Action, Trails and Bikeways Council of Greater Redding, Friends of Redding Trails, Shasta Chapter of California Native Plant Society, Friends of Oregon Gulch, Redding Parks and Trails Foundation, Shasta Group of Sierra Club and the Streams and Greenways Alliance and the Whole Earth and Watershed Festival.

These organizations will not be endorsing or supporting any candidates.

The forum will follow the format of the League of Women Voters with candidates giving opening statements followed by written questions submitted by the audience and read by the moderator.  Each candidate will be allowed to respond to all questions submitted.

All five candidates have agreed to participate.

The forum will be on the lower first floor of the Methodist Church.  There is parking behind the church and in the lot on East St.  The public is invited.  For more information call David Ledger at 530/355/8542.
