Caltrans Extends Road-Opening Hours for State Route 299 Between Redding and Weaverville
REDDING — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 2 is
extending road openings hours for State Route 299 between Redding and Weaverville, effective on Tuesday, August 14 at 6:00 P.M.
On Tuesday (08/14) and Wednesday (08/15) the Noon to 1:30 P.M. schedule remains the same while the overnight 6:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. schedule will be 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 A.M. next morning.

CARR FIRE REPOPULATION
WHAT: Evacuation orders have been lifted in its entirety for the Rainbow Lake Area.
WHEN: August 14, 2018 at Noon
WHERE: Then evacuation order has been lifted in its entirety for the Rainbow Lake
Area however, per closure order CA-360-18-03, the public lands in the Rainbow Lake Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management; will remain closed to the public until further review of the potential hazards can be determined.

WHAT: Fire crews will be conducting firing operations on the Carr Fire to
strengthen control lines.
WHEN: August 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M.
WHERE: There will be visible smoke for the next three to five days from the
community of Lakehead, west of Shasta Lake, and the I-5 corridor.

SERVICE
Butte County- Memorial service for CAL FIRE Mechanic Andrew Brake will occur on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. The service will take place at St. John Episcopal Church 2341 Floral Ave, Chico, CA 95926. This will be a public service.

CURRENT SITUATION
Situation Summary: Smoke over the fire area has moderated fire activity throughout the evening. Fire spread is primarily fuels and topography driven with potential for rollout and spot fires. Dense timber, dry vegetation, and terrain driven winds have challenged firefighting efforts. Firefighters continued to expand containment lines throughout the evening and in less active areas of the fire, mop-up efforts
continued.

The public will be permitted to drive between Trinity Dam Boulevard and Whiskey Creek Bridge from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. daily. The highway will remain closed at all other times.
