Hot Monkey Sex

There’s a headline I’ve always wanted to write.

As you may remember from yesterday’s Corner Booth and a kajillion news stories all over the Intertubes, scientists have found fossils of a human ancestor 4.4 million years old.

The fossils from Ethiopia, a million years older than the more familiar Lucy, revealed many surprises, including some that’ll change the way we think about our earliest ancestors.

National Geographic.com says scientists theorize that SEX might’ve been the prime motivator in getting early hominids to walk upright. Apparently, being able to carry food back to the female was one way to become a big-time operator among the Ardipithecus ramidus set. Walking upright freed both hands for carrying stuff. Soon all the males were doing it to impress the females, and look where it all led.
