Board of Supervisors Selects Clint Curtis as Next County Clerk/Registrar of Voters, Pending Background Check

Clint Curtis

At a special meeting held April 30, 2025, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to extend a conditional offer of appointment to Clint Curtis to serve as the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters. The appointment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background investigation, as required by County policy. Supervisors Kevin Crye, Corkey Harmon, and Chris Kelstrom voted in favor of Curtis, while Supervisors Allen Long and Matt Plummer dissented, supporting Joanna Francescut.

Curtis brings a legal and technical background that includes experience in elections law, computer programming, and investigative analysis. His qualifications include a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and prior work in both legal and government settings. Curtis has presented himself as an advocate for election transparency and integrity throughout his career.

Today’s interviews were held in open session and included five qualified candidates who were selected through a competitive screening process. Curtis’s appointment, if finalized, will fill the vacancy left by the retirement of former Clerk/Registrar Thomas Toller, and will serve the remainder of the unexpired term through January 4, 2027.
