The first significant storm system of the season will move into the area later today bringing periods of moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow through the week and into the weekend.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office would like the public to make note of the following list of places in Shasta County where sandbags can be filled. Please note that some locations require you to have your own bags and/or shovel. Please be aware of what items you need prior to arrival. Sandbags will be available as long as the supply is on hand. Sandbags and sand can also be purchased at several Shasta County landscaping supply companies.

Burney: Burney Fire District

City of Anderson: Across from the City Corp Yard at 2450 Barney St. (Bring your own
shovel).
City of Shasta Lake: Sand is located at the intersection of Ashby Road and Flower Street.

As the winter weather season begins, the public is urged to evaluate their emergency

When driving in winter weather, drivers are urged to slow down and never drive across
