The City of Redding and the Redding Rodeo Association (RRA) are pleased to announce a joint commitment to a 25-year lease amendment focused on preserving and enhancing the Redding Rodeo Grounds (Rodeo Grounds). This long-term partnership ensures that the Rodeo Grounds will continue to serve as a community landmark, supporting both rodeo events and a variety of community gatherings, well into the future.
Under the terms of the proposed Lease Amendment, the RRA has pledged to spearhead significant renovations including upgrades to the announcer’s booth, private boxes, and the main grandstands. These improvements, estimated at a cost of over $12 million, will elevate the experience for attendees while ensuring the Rodeo Grounds remain a premier event destination. The City and RRA will collaborate to explore grant opportunities and other financing mechanisms to support these enhancements.
In addition to hosting the annual Redding Rodeo, the RRA will work closely with the City to open the Rodeo Grounds for a diverse range of events that complement other community venues. A coordinated Parking Plan will be developed to optimize accessibility and support the city’s expanding event calendar.
Mayor Tenessa Audette shared her enthusiasm, stating, “This partnership highlights our commitment to Redding’s vibrant community spirit. By enhancing the Rodeo Grounds and extending the lease, we’re not only preserving a local tradition but also creating a welcoming space for events that bring our community together in new and exciting ways.”
RRA President Ted Bambino echoed the Mayor’s sentiment: “The Redding Rodeo Association is thrilled to take this step forward with the City of Redding. These improvements to the Rodeo Grounds will benefit not just rodeo fans, but everyone in our community who enjoys gathering for memorable events. We’re excited to honor our past and shape a dynamic future for the Rodeo Grounds.”
The City of Redding will conduct regular maintenance reviews to ensure the long-term upkeep of the Rodeo Grounds. Both the City and RRA are dedicated to maintaining clear communication, holding quarterly meetings to facilitate collaboration, and to address ongoing needs.
The partnership between the City of Redding and the Redding Rodeo Association reflects a shared vision for vibrant and welcoming Rodeo Grounds, reinforcing its place as a community landmark for decades to come.
