Retired Redding Police Department (RPD) Lieutenant and current Grant Elementary School Board Trustee, Allen Long, is announcing his run for Shasta County Board of Supervisors, District 2.
“It would be an honor to serve the county I love, where I have spent most of my career and where I have raised my four children. I cannot sit by while we are being robbed of local control by special interest agendas and an out-of-state millionaire.
We are losing fully staffed law enforcement and losing our sense of community. The current Board majority is wasting unprecedented amounts of money on unnecessary voting schemes, pet projects, and baseless suspicions against our elected officials. This lack of focus has enabled rising property crime, a depleted workforce, and the needs of our citizens to be ignored. If we don’t act quickly, decisively and with sanity we will not be able to repair the damage being done. I am a problem solving, law abiding fiscal conservative who has a proven track record of getting things done. We must restore order to our County and bring back local voter control.”
Allen is an incredibly well qualified candidate, a seasoned manager and leader who came through the ranks of RPD, including Sergeant of the Neighborhood Policing Unit and homicide detective, for 19 of his 32-years in Shasta County. He was elected and has served successfully for five years, including as president, on the Grant Elementary School Board during some of its most challenging times.
In his spare time he loves to fish and he is finding his way around the keys on a piano.
