Cathy Darling Allen, County Clerk, would like to inform the public that voter information guides for voters in Supervisorial District 2 are being delivered this week via US mail. A new state law is in effect that mandates all voters be mailed a ballot for every election (AB 37). Today, January 3, 2022 local post office carriers will begin delivery of ballots to all District 2 voters.
Voters who choose to vote in person have options. Early voting begins today, Monday, January 3rd, 2022 at the Elections Department at 1643 Market Street, Redding and is available Monday through Friday, 8a-5p. On election day only, February 1, 2022, voters can also vote in person at their assigned polling place.
Voters also have the option of returning voted ballots to an official drop box, by mail, or voters can return voted ballots in person to the Elections Department located at 1643 Market Street, Redding (downtown). For those that wish to return their ballot by mail, return postage is prepaid.
Information is available on our website, ShastaVotes.org, about candidates, how to vote a recall ballot, locations of drop boxes and available polling places. A digital copy of the voter information guide mailed to each voter is available online: https://www.elections.co.shasta.ca.us/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/VIG-FINAL.pdf.
As a reminder, only voters who live within the boundaries of Supervisorial District 2 adopted in 2011 are eligible to vote in this recall election. The new boundaries of all supervisorial districts within the county will be in effect for the June 7, 2022 election. Both versions of the boundary maps can be found at https://www.co.shasta.ca.us/index/bos/district-map.
