UPDATE: Shasta College Campus Closure Lifted

UPDATE  After consulting with Public Safety agencies responsible for containing the Fawn Fire and monitoring the fire’s activity, Shasta College Campus Safety is confident that there is no immediate risk to the main campus. Therefore, Shasta College’s main Redding Campus will reopen, Saturday, September 25, 2021. Any previously scheduled in-person instruction will resume as normal at that time. All in-person services and business operations will resume on Monday, September 27, 2021. Students are encouraged to communicate with their instructors about any impacts they may be experiencing related to their classes.

The college administration wishes to express their deepest thanks to all of the firefighters and first responders in their efforts to protect the college and surrounding communities impacted by the Fawn Fire.

Because of the continued proximity of the Fawn Fire to the main Redding Campus the campus will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, September 24, 2021. All in-person instruction and services on the main campus will be cancelled. Current online courses will continue as planned while faculty teaching face to face courses will make adjustments as appropriate. The main campus closure will not affect any other campuses. Classes at the Downtown Health Science and University Center, Redding Public Library, Tehama, Intermountain, and Trinity Campuses will continue as scheduled.

Normal operations and in-person instruction are anticipated to return on Monday, September 27. The current situation with the Fawn Fire is unpredictable and is being monitored and evaluated as it continues to develop. Should a change in plans for Monday be required the college will communicate an update by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2021.
