On August 27, 2020, at approximately 0800 hours, a Deputy Coroner Investigator was dispatched to a field on Placer Street near Benton Airpark in Redding, California, regarding a fatal plane crash. The pilot and one of the passengers were pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
The pilot was identified as 59 year old Michael Barry Garrett of Redding, California. The passenger was identified as 37 year old Navraj Singh Chatha of Rodeo, California. Both decedent’s next-of-kin have been notified. The case remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
