• Shasta County has 6 new positive cases today. Three had symptoms, three did not, and one is hospitalized. They are a girl under 13, a man in his 40s, three women in their 50s and a woman in her 70s.

• About the numbers: Total confirmed cases means the number of people who have tested positive for COVID through a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, the nasal swab. While some labs are doing antibody tests, these numbers are not included in our daily totals. If a person tests positive for antibodies through a blood test, we would confirm that the person currently has COVID through a nasal swab before including them in our case count.
