Five more Shasta County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 17. The new patients are:
• A woman in her 70s who is isolated at home
• A woman in her 20s who is isolated at home
• A man in his 20s who is isolated at home
• A man in his 50s who is isolated at home
• A woman in her 70s who is hospitalized
The Shasta County Health Officer and communicable disease team are working to identify the patients’ close contacts and implement necessary quarantine orders.
The Health and Human Services Agency strongly encourages people to follow the governor’s stay-at-home orders, as it can be up to 14 days before someone with the virus begins to show symptoms. More information about COVID-19 can be found at www.ShastaReady.org.
