A sixth Shasta County resident has tested positive for COVID-19, the novel coronavirus. The patient is a female in her 20s who is in isolation at home. It is believed that the patient contracted the virus through out-of-state travel during her 14-day incubation period. The Shasta County Health Officer and communicable disease team are working to identify close contacts and implement necessar quarantine orders.
The other Shasta County residents who have tested positive for coronavirus are:
• A man in his 50s who tested positive on March 8. He contracted the virus during travel and has recovered.
• A woman in her 70s who tested positive on March 22. She contracted the virus at a Sacramento County hospital and passed away March 24.
• A man in his 40s who tested positive on March 24. He was a close contact of the woman in her 70s, and he is in isolation at home.
• A man in his 60s who tested positive on March 27. He contracted the virus at a Sacramento County hospital, where he remains in isolation.
• A man in his 80s who tested positive on March 29. It is unknown where he contracted the virus and he is in isolation at a Redding hospital.
