Temporary Changes to Police Services Due to the Coronavirus

The Redding Police Department is taking immediate steps to reduce the risk of exposure and the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) for our public safety staff and the public. Our response to emergency calls will not change and will remain our top priority.

Effective immediately, the following changes will be implemented:

All non-emergency calls for service where a suspect is not present, will be handled via our online reporting system or by phone. Only after initial phone contact will an officer respond and only when absolutely necessary to do so.

The Redding Police Department lobby will remain open to the public, but fingerprinting services will be suspended indefinitely.

All police ride-a-longs and building tours are suspended. Citizen participation in force options training is also suspended until further notice.

Training and meetings in excess of 10 persons will be suspended unless needed to protect public safety.

We appreciate your patience during this rapidly evolving situation.
