18th Annual Coats for Kids Donation Program

Cold winters in the North State can be especially hard for families struggling to make ends meet and a warm winter coat is something no child should do without. That’s why the City of Redding’s Solid Waste Utility and Fire Department have joined forces to provide the 18th Annual Coats for Kids Donation Program.

Coats for Kids is a program started by the City of Redding Solid Waste Utility with the goal of collecting new and gently used coats for children, then redistributing them to families in need. Convenient, curbside collection will be offered for City of Redding residents.

Warm winter items, such as gloves, scarves, sweatshirts, coats, jackets, and vests, in all sizes are needed – infant through adult – with an emphasis of kids’ sizes. New underwear and socks for men, women, and children, in all sizes are also needed. All Items are donated to Good News Rescue Mission.

Curbside Collection Donations (for City residents only): Wrap donations in waterproof, plastic bags, clearly labeled, “Coats for Kids,” and place them on top of your blue recycling cart. They will be collected on regular collection days.

There also are several, convenient, drop-off donation locations for anyone looking to donate:
