On December 9th , 2018 at 8:01 PM, Redding Police officers responded to Kahuna’s restaurant in regards to a physical fight taking place inside the business. Upon initial police arrival, the suspect had left the area. A short time later, officers were called back to the location regarding several subjects who had returned to the restaurant and were now breaking windows out of the business.

Officers responded back and ultimately located three juveniles and one adult. The adult was identified as Chayse Rivers, 19 years old of Redding. He was arrested for felony vandalism and conspiracy. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail. (see attached photo)

The incident sparked from a customer at the restaurant who observed an employee at Kahuna’s and recognized him from high school. The two of them do not get along. A verbal altercation took place between the customer and employee, which led to a physical altercation inside the business. The customer left the business and later returned with several associates who began breaking out windows and creating a large disturbance. When police arrived, several individuals fled the scene, however the four previously mentioned were captured and arrested for their involvement.

Redding Police Department Investigators are following-up on additional information as it is received and are investigating allegations of this possibly being a gang related incident. Additional arrests may be made as the case progresses.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Redding Police Department Investigations Division.

What have we come to and where will it end? I hope these jerks and their accomplices, when caught, receive more than just a slap on the wrist.
