City of Redding repopulation signage

City of Redding building officials have inspected properties that sustained damage. Upon completion of their inspection, some properties may have been sectioned off with yellow caution tape. All such properties were also tagged with color-coded signage indicating the level of damage assessed on the home. Please be sure to read the signage carefully as there is pertinent information provided that will indicate restrictions placed on that property. City staff is developing new signage to replace the red signs placed on fire destroyed homes.

Red signs indicate there was unsalvageable damage sustained. Homes at this level are not able to be repaired and will require significant rebuilding. The current signage indicates there will be legal ramifications for entrance into the home, however that is not correct. The new signage will reflect the City’s stance that the home may be breached by residents at their own risk. The City recommends residents use caution upon entry to ensure that proper precautions are used to prevent illness or injury.
