Hit and Run on Hartnell

On 6/2/2018, at 12:37 A.M., Shascom received multiple calls for service of a collision on Hartnell Avenue at Fairway Avenue. Witnesses reported a motor vehicle struck a pedestrian then fled the scene without stopping.  Redding Police Officers arrived within minutes and located a male subject in the roadway with major injuries. The male was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical condition. His identity remains unknown at this time.

Officer’s conducted an extensive search of the area but did not locate the involved vehicle. According to witnesses and evidence located at the scene, the vehicle is a silver or gray sedan with a boxy body style.  There was also evidence left at the scene indicating the windshield may have sustained significant damaged in the collision.

The preliminary investigation suggests the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, was struck while crossing Hartnell Ave. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs are a factor.
