A striking collection of original oil paintings by artist Susan F. Greaves will hang in the Redding Municipal Airport for the months of June, July, and August. The invitational show, curated by Chuck Prudhomme, will include representative works, including colorful floral still life, local and regional landscapes, and figurative work inspired by the local Renaissance Fair.
“The airport display space is one of the best in Redding. Its openness and great lighting show the colors full spectrum. I have put extra effort into this show, choosing a near-retrospective array of paintings with informative comments for each. You will see my focus and style as it evolved over a decade or more,” states the artist.
Greaves’ oil paintings are known for their light and color. Painting directly from the subject in most cases, has given her work a painterly realist style that is recognizable as Greaves’ own.
The artist has lived and worked in Redding for over 40 years and enjoys national recognition. She has had artwork featured at the Shasta County Arts Council Gallery, the North Valley Art League, the original Redding Museum, and several local galleries.
Greaves has received more than 50 awards for her work. Her paintings are in private collections across the United States and in Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Australia, and France. Additionally, she holds membership in national art honoraries including Knickerbocker Artists, Alla Prima International, the American Artists Professional League, and the Society of Master Impressionists. She is, also, an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America.
