Dr. Laurie Wirthlin is a pediatrician. She knows how frightening it can be to be a sick kid or to have a sick child. It’s why she works to form relationships with her patients and their parents based on trust, information, and compassion. She received her doctor of medicine degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed both her internship and residency in pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her mentor while in school was a doctor who spent summers at NASA, who taught her the value of being smart and caring, of listening, and how to enjoy being a scientist. It’s why Dr. Wirthlin is passionate about pediatrics, and why she chose Dignity Health Lassen Medical Clinic in Red Bluff for her current practice.
Dr. Wirthlin says: “Children need to know what’s going on with their bodies when they’re sick, and they need to know how to help keep themselves healthy. As a pediatrician, I can see how important it is to know. Even when treating critically ill children – especially then – it’s so important to share. When it comes to care, more education truly helps, and can help make the job of getting better easier.”
