Whether due to injury or other pathology, requiring surgery is one of the most intense things that can happen to someone. Having a surgeon who understands the nature of the problem and how to “fix” it, and who understands the feelings of the patient and his or her family is the key to a successful outcome. That’s the belief of Dr. Douglas Hatter, a general vascular and trauma surgeon at Dignity Health Medical Group North State and the Director of Trauma at Mercy Medical Center Redding. He obtained his medical degree from the University Of Florida College Of Medicine, and completed his internship in General Surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, his residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and his Vascular Surgery fellowship at Louisiana State University. He brings his vast knowledge to patients in the North State.
Dr. Hatter says: “My training and experience allows me to treat a wide variety of acute and chronic surgical conditions and really touch people’s lives in a unique way. I love the continuum of care aspect of surgery and being there throughout the course of a surgical illness. We live and work in a beautiful place and it is a true blessing to be able to bring a broad spectrum of surgical care to the North State.”
