Citations in ABC Shoulder Tap Operation

On Friday, August 18, 2017, agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (A.B.C.) and officers from the Redding Police Department conducted a minor decoy/shoulder tap operation within the City of Redding. The operation is funded by a grant from A.B.C. and is designed to encourage safe and appropriate sales of alcoholic beverages.

During the minor decoy portion of the operation, eleven businesses were contacted by a minor attempting to purchase an alcoholic beverage. Clerks from two businesses sold beer to the minor. Daljit Gill (68 years of age, from Shasta Lake) working at the Shell Food and Market, located at 5001 Bechelli Ln., was cited for furnishing/sales to a minor. Genaro Larusso (73 years of age, from Redding) working at the Chevron gas station, located at 4746 Churn Creek Rd., was cited for furnishing/sales to a minor.

During the shoulder tap portion of the operation nine citizens were contacted by the minor with three people eventually purchasing an alcoholic beverage for the minor. William Bradbury (58 years of age, from Redding), Robert Schornsten (24 years of age, from Redding), and Joshua Pugh (27 years of age, from Shasta Lake) were each cited for furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a minor.

Businesses are urged to check the identification of anyone attempting to purchase alcoholic beverages. Citizens are encouraged to refuse to purchase alcoholic beverages for people they do not know.
