August 17, 2017 will mark the one year anniversary of the murder of Edwin “Eddie” Phillips. On August 17, 2016, at 11:16 p.m. SHASCOM received a 911 call of shots fired in the area of 3032 Bechelli Ln. in Redding. Responding officers arrived in the area to discover Edwin “Eddie” Phillips, 67 years of Redding suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Phillips was transported via ambulance to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators later obtained video surveillance from a nearby business, which showed Edwin “Eddie” Phillips entering his business with an unknown subject and exiting a short time later, just prior to the shooting. The subject appears to be of a large stature and was wearing long, baggy shorts and possibly a tank top at the time.
Although it has been a year, investigators are urging anybody with any information regarding this case to contact the Redding Police Department Investigations Division at (530) 225-4200. Shasta County Secret Witness recently raised the reward to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the suspect.
