CalTrans Road Update for July 4 Travel

CalTrans 5 for 4th of July
For the traveling public visiting Mt. Shasta, Redding, Lassen National Park, Lake Almanor, Red Bluff, Corning, and other cities and towns in Tehama, Plumas, Lassen, Shasta, Trinity, Modoc, and Siskiyou Counties, Caltrans District 2 wishes you safe travels and advises you of the following road conditions:

NO WORK DURING THE 4TH OF JULY LONG-WEEKEND

Major construction projects on State Routes throughout District 2 are shutting down for the 4th of July long-weekend, starting on Friday, June 30, 2017 (afternoon) to Tuesday, July 4h (evening). Operations will resume on Wednesday, July 5, at 6 am or 7 am (please check specific routes/projects for exact hours.)
However, motorists may see “flaggers,” indicating one way traffic control operations in roads when and where necessary. Please be nice to our flaggers.

Here is a list of current major construction projects.

Interstate 5 – Antlers (North of Redding)

No work will be going on at Antlers involving a lane closure Saturday, July 1, through Tuesday, July 4, and that includes no flaggers and no cone zones. We will resume on Wednesday, July 5.

Interstate 5 – South Weed Project

Caltrans and its Contractor will not be working from Saturday, July 1, to Wednesday, July 5, but long term lane closures will remain in effect northbound from Vista Drive (South Weed) to Central Weed and southbound from Abrams Lake to just north of Lake Street (Central Mt. Shasta).  We will have two traffic monitoring vehicles on site Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9am to 9pm.

State Route 36 – Lassen Lodge

No work on the 4th of July weekend, from Friday, June 30 at 3:30pm to Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Work will resume on Wednesday, July 5th, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. with one way traffic control.

State Route 44 – East of Viola

Caltrans and its contractor won’t be working from Saturday, July 1 until Wednesday July 5, 2017 east of Viola on State Route 44.

State Route 70

SR 70

All work is suspended for the Holiday weekend. There is a traffic signal on State Route 70 at the Spring Garden Bridge 5 miles east of Quincy, and it will be going on until November 1.

State Route 89 – Greenville

Caltrans and its contractor won’t be working from Saturday, July 1 until Wednesday July 5, 2017, in downtown Greenville but cone zones and signals remain in place. Work will resume on Wednesday, July 5.

State Route 96 – Emergency Project

The Contractor will not be working Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday and we do not anticipate any one way traffic control closures those days.

State Route 299

No construction work for the long weekend, from Friday, June 30 from 6 pm to Wednesday, July 5 at 6 am, Caltrans and its contractor Steve Manning won’t be working onsite, making easier for travelers and visitors at Big French Creek, Burnt Ranch, and surrounding areas.
