After a dozen years of volunteerism with Riverfront Playhouse, Board President Dan Kupsky is exiting the stage and handing his role to another longtime community servant.
Kupsky leaves his post after serving on the board for 12 years, most recently as president. He has also played numerous roles on stage and worked behind the scenes for dozens of productions over the years. The new president, Darryll Alvey, is a retired attorney and longtime Riverfront Playhouse actor and volunteer who has a long track record of community service. “His knowledge, expertise, and experience with theatre and the arts makes him a perfect fit,” Kupsky said.
Kupsky moved to the North State from southern New Jersey 44 years ago after completing his service in the Navy. He and his wife, Judy, are moving to Arizona to join their two children and their families, including a fifth grandchild due in May. “Our joyful anticipation is definitely dampened by saying farewell to familiar faces and places we’ve grown to love,” Kupsky said. “One of my most cherished community passions has been Riverfront Playhouse.”
Kupsky and Alvey have both been instrumental in establishing a new theatre in downtown Redding, which will replace the aging, small theatre in east Redding. “Our goal is finally within reach and I feel great confidence in handing over the reins to a new board president,” Kupsky said.
