Patients who are experiencing worn hip and knee joints, especially those who are more mature, now have an orthopedic surgeon to help them find the best treatment. Dr. Michael Manning specializes in hip and knee arthroscopy, and works with patients to discover whether non-surgical treatments may still represent a way forward, or whether surgery provides the most hope to get moving again. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, California and did his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at UMDNJ in Stratford, New Jersey where he was also Chief Resident. He brings his considerable experience in joint replacement and his work with advances in surgical techniques and implant design to Dignity Health.
Dr. Manning says: “I believe that patients should be educated regarding their diagnoses and treatment options to make sound decisions regarding their care. As a surgeon, I also have a clear understanding that in many instances surgery is not the best option to relieve their pain. By understanding that patients are more than their diagnoses, I’m also able to recognize that each should be treated with respect and dignity. Humankindness must be part of everything I do, from before my patients meet with me until after they leave.”
