2016 Redding Lighted Christmas Parade Route and Closures

THE ACTIVE 20-30 CLUB OF REDDING ANNOUNCES the 2016 redding lighted christmas parade ROUTE AND ROAD CLOSURES

(Press information will also be available the day of the parade after 1pm in the CalWORKS parking lot at the corner of Tehama and California Streets.)

Saturday evening at 6 p.m., Downtown Redding will come alive with the Redding Lighted Christmas Parade! More than 100 entries will light up downtown and launch Redding into the Christmas season. The parade will go on rain or shine.

Several streets in the Downtown area will be closed on Saturday for the Parade. Parade route road closures will occur at 5 p.m. All road closures will re-open at the conclusion of the event.

Parade Route Closures:

  • Pine Street, between Tehama and South Streets
  • Placer Street, between the Railroad Crossing and East Street.
  • Market Street, between Tehama and South Streets
  • Sacramento Street, between Railroad Crossing and East Street
  • Yuba Street, between the Railroad Crossing and Liberty Street
  • Liberty Street, between Yuba and Butte Streets

Staging Area Closures: Staging areas for the parade floats will include the following streets. These streets will be closed at 3:00 pm and re-open at the conclusion of the parade:

  • Oregon Street, between Shasta and Yuba Streets
  • California Street, between Eureka Way and Tehama Street
  • Tehama Street, between Court and California Streets
  • Division Street
  • Butte Street, between Court and Oregon Streets
  • Center Street, between Trinity and Division Streets
  • Shasta Street, between Oregon and Market Streets

Parking: There will be access to limited parking in the downtown mall parking structure from California Street. The parking structure will be closed once it is full. As a reminder, RVs will not fit in the lower level of the parking structure. Additional parking can also be found in the County parking garage.

NO PARKING IS ALLOWED ON THE PARADE ROUTE. THE ROUTE WILL BE POSTED AS A NO PARKING ZONE SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR TO THE PARADE. ANY VEHICLES PARKED IN THE PARADE ROUTE MUST BE MOVED PRIOR TO 3:00 PM ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 3rd, 2016 OR THEY WILL BE TOWED.

Parade Route Detours: Motorists traveling into the downtown area will be detoured onto East Street, Court Street, South Street and Shasta Street.

Temporary Stop Signs: Temporary stop signs will be placed at the intersection of Yuba Street and East Street. This will make the intersection a four way stop.

Foot traffic: For the safety of parade entrants on foot, they should follow the “Parade Foot Traffic Exit” signs. Parents MUST pick up parade entrants on foot (e.g., band members) in the Cal Trans parking lot at 1037 Butte Street (see map).

Alcohol Possession: As a reminder the Redding Municipal Code prohibits open alcoholic beverage containers in public, which includes the parade route.
